News Update on Southchurch Hall & Gardens    

A bid has been put in to the Heritage Lottery to make some improvements to Southchurch Hall Gardens whilst preserving the integrity of what is a World Heritage site. The following is what is planned.

•  Improved access for all groups of the community including wheelchair users etc
• The dredging of the ponds and moat system under the supervision of archaeologists.  
• Horticultural refurbishment and development designed to reflect the historical context of the site.  
• Hard landscaping refurbishment and development e.g. paving, handrails etc;
• Improved security Improved interpretation of historical features e.g. improved museum displays etc

  A steering group has been set up comprising representatives from leisure and culture and the community. As the bid develops we aim to keep you informed of progress, so watch this space as they say.
